The highly populated region is also considered one of the country’s most successful commercial centers – Ramat Gan, found immediately east of Tel Aviv is famous for diamonds, football, chocolate, and shopping malls.

The Ayalon Mall was the first mall ever to be built in Israel and worth visiting, as are the shops on Bialik Street.

Ramat Gan also boasts the largest Diamond Exchange in the world and a visit to the Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum provides a fascinating insight into how diamonds are made, with many temporary exhibitions featuring g high profile diamond collections.

 

Visitors to Gush Dan can also take in Ramat Gan Safari, an African park and zoo which is over 250 acres in size, and features around 1600 different species of animals, one of the largest collections in the Middle East. Many of them can be viewed from the car, while others live in enclosures within a zoo.

Guided tours take place daily – those who like to be up early can opt for the night Safari, and night owls can book a place on the midnight Safari.

 

 At the southern end of Ramat Gan, the Avraham Krinitzi National Park is a popular place to picnic or enjoy a BBQ.
